Work Safely at Heights

This nationally recognised unit provides participants with the skills and knowledge to identify hazards, assess risks and work safely at height using the correct fall protection systems and equipment.
Training includes both theoretical and practical components, giving participants hands-on experience with typical height safety equipment used across South Australian workplaces.
What the course covers
Participants will learn how to:
- Access, interpret and apply height safety procedures and legislation
- Identify height-related hazards and implement suitable risk controls
- Select, inspect and correctly use fall protection systems and PPE
- Check, fit and anchor harnesses and associated equipment
- Use ladders safely, including correct setup and adjustment
- Work safely on elevated surfaces, platforms and structures
- Follow safe work method statements and workplace procedures
- Communicate effectively during height work and emergency situations
Assessment
Participants must successfully complete:
- Practical demonstrations of height safety techniques
- Knowledge questions and in-class activities
- Full competency in all required tasks before certification

- One day (approx. 8 hours), including theory and practical assessment
