This nationally accredited unit provides participants with the skills and knowledge to rescue a person from a live low voltage (LV) panel and to manage an electrical incident safely. LVR certification is mandatory for electrical workers in South Australia and must be refreshed every 12 months.
The course is aligned with the requirements of the Office of the Technical Regulator and relevant South Australian electrical safety legislation.
What the course covers
Participants will learn how to:
- Respond safely to electrical emergencies
- Identify and manage hazards associated with live LV apparatus
- Operate rescue equipment for LV panel extractions
- Manage an unconscious or injured casualty
- Perform CPR (adult and child) in accordance with ARC guidelines
- Follow workplace emergency procedures and communication protocols
- Maintain and inspect safety equipment used during LV rescue
Assessment requirements
Participants must successfully complete:
- Practical demonstration of LV rescue
- CPR performed on a manikin on the floor (mandatory for accreditation)
- Written and multiple-choice knowledge assessments
- Observation of simulated workplace activities
Duration
- 4 hours, including theory, practical demonstration and assessment
