Adelaide Safety Training delivers practical, hands-on fire and emergency training for workplaces across Adelaide and regional South Australia. Our public courses run at our Adelaide training centre for individuals and small groups, and we also travel onsite for larger workplace groups.
Training is delivered by experienced WHS professionals who understand how real workplaces operate and how staff need to respond when an incident occurs.

Fire extinguisher and fire equipment training
Confine small workplace emergencies [PUAFER008 ]
This course gives participants the skills and confidence to safely confine small workplace fires using portable fire equipment. It is ideal for general staff who may need to respond to an incipient fire while following workplace emergency procedures.
What the course covers
Participants learn both the theory and practice of workplace fire safety, including:
- Classes of fire and the fire triangle
- Types of fire extinguishers and their correct use
- Legislative and regulatory requirements for fire equipment
- Raising the alarm and notifying emergency services
- Safe firefighting tactics for small workplace fires
- Use of fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets
- Personal safety and when not to fight a fire
Hands-on live fire training
Training includes practical exercises using our BullEx Live-Fire Training System, which uses air and water instead of dry chemicals. This allows learners to extinguish a realistic fire in a safe, clean and environmentally friendly way, either at our training centre or at your site.

Chief warden, warden and fire safety training
Combined Emergency Training [PUAFERCOMB]
This combined course is designed for members of your Emergency Control Organisation (ECO), including Chief Wardens and Wardens. It equips key personnel to lead and coordinate an effective response during workplace emergencies such as fire, explosion or bomb threat.
Units included
- PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation
- PUAFER006 – Lead an emergency control organisation
- PUAFER008 – Confine small workplace emergencies
What the course covers
Participants learn how to:
- Prepare for workplace emergencies
- Apply command, control and coordination during an emergency
- Interpret and respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings
- Direct evacuations and manage assembly areas
- Coordinate initial emergency response and communication
- Conclude an incident and support post-incident review
Assessment focuses on the ability to respond in line with workplace emergency procedures, give clear directions under pressure, and operate effectively within the ECO structure.
